In our continued commitment to directly impact our local community in a positive way with the tools we have, I am truly privileged to be working with Rosemary Anderson High School. Myoptic is performing free eye examinations and working with 141 Eyewear to give these young adults free glasses from their incredible collection.

I was first introduced to Rosemary Anderson High School through a friend. I was invited to attend a special dinner highlighting their program and listening to a few of their graduates speak. I was moved to tears listening to how much they have overcome, from homelessness to abusive domestic situations to drug abuse. Regular high school was no longer an option for them but they found confidence, success and inspiration at Rosemary Anderson. Thank you to the teachers, staff and benefactors of Rosemary Anderson High School.

I met some great students the other day. They all know where they want to be after they graduate. One young man wants to design his own clothes and was wearing one of his own creations that day. Another young woman was going to go into counseling to help others. I was so impressed with their kindness and maturity.
Here’s what made that day really important to me though. Every person I saw that day has been without prescription eyewear for at least one and a half years if not all their life. More than half would not pass a driver’s test without correction and a couple could not see clearly past their arm’s length. To have this challenge on top of all the others they have experienced, who knows if they could have made it in the regular system if they could have just seen the board clearly or read their lessons comfortably.

If you have a chance to meet anyone involved with this school, take it. The people are generous, committed and have amazing foresight. I look forward to our next RAHS day and hope anyone we can help gets that help as soon as possible.

Gratefully,
Summy To
