The Team:
Dr. Summy To, Optometrist
In my free time I stay active in the gym and on bike trails. I received my certification for personal training last year for the heck of it. I spend valuable time with family and stay motivated in personal growth and community involvement. When I can, I’ll book a flight to soak in some sun and culture and bring back ideas to keep Myoptic exciting and new.
Summy usually sees patients Mondays through Fridays.
Dr. Oliver Kuhn-Wilken, Optometrist
Myoptic works hard to provide superb eye care and stylish glasses to the community, and I feel very lucky to be a part of the team. In every encounter, I strive to give you the answers and solutions that you need to enjoy the best vision possible.
Originally from Colorado, I got my bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley. I spent several years working at a variety of jobs; I was a travel writer, a typographer, and a carpenter before I finally got a doctorate in optometry from Pacific University. In addition to my work at Myoptic, I am currently completing a residency at the American Lake VA Hospital in Tacoma, Washington, with a specialty in ocular disease.
I have loved Portland ever since my arrival 15 years ago. I enjoy reading, raising my children, telling puns, and searching for the best espresso in Portland (and therefore in the universe). I look forward to finding the time to row a 4-seat scull down the Willamette again someday.
Ollie usually sees patients on Saturdays.

Derek Finholt, Optician, ABOC, NCLE
Originally from the chilly Midwest, I found my way to the beautiful Pacific NW in 2002. I lived in Salem for awhile, ran a business, met my wife, moved to Texas, missed Oregon, and am thrilled to be back and call Portland my home. I have been an optician since 2009 and I knew immediately that I had found my calling, consequently obtaining my ABO and NCLE licensing. I have degrees in Archaeology and Museum Studies and have done many jobs over the years, but nothing brings me the kind of joy I get from helping people see clearly and look wonderful while doing it. It doesn’t hurt that I found such a caring and talented family here at Myoptic… is it really “work” if you look forward to doing it each day?!?
In my free time I love seeing live music, playing live music, writing music, talking about music (anyone spot a trend here?)… I also love good food (both cooking AND eating), traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with my family and friends.
Alicia Navarrette, Optician

I graduated from Portland State University in 2009 with a BA in Art History. It was in college where I discovered the importance of Optometry. Working late nights writing papers about Bauhaus artists and building scale models of museums left my eyes begging for a little assistance. I began working with Myoptic in July 2011 and my knowledge and appreciation for Optometry and eye wear design has grown exponentially.
When I’m out of the office you can find me at Breeze Block Gallery in China Town, sitting on the board of Portland Open Studios, working in my garden or hanging out with my husband and cats, Reggie and Godzilla.
Chelsea Davidson, Optician, ABOC
I graduated from Sonoma State University with a BS in Business Administration. I became an optician 5 years ago when I was in my last year of college. I’ve always been interested in optics, since my prescription has always been on the higher side, and I’ve been wearing glasses since I was ten. When I was offered a job as an optician I didn’t realize just how much I would love working with patients. I really enjoy helping patients select glasses that compliment their style and allow their personality shine. Everyone looks beautiful in glasses! I am so glad that my career allows me to directly help my community and meet new people everyday.
When I’m not helping patients pick out super stylish frames here at Myoptic, you might find me out and about exploring Portland with my husband, or sewing all sorts of new creations. When I have time to take a vacation I also enjoy traveling to different parts of the United States and the world!
Originally from Chicago, I heard the call of manifest destiny (Go West, young son!) and came to Portland in 2004 to attend college. I graduated with a liberal arts degree in a horrible economy. I walked around town until my toes almost fell off and was rewarded with my first job as an optician. I had no idea the journey I had in store. Working as an optician has allowed me to meet the most interesting people, learn so much about our city, and help people feel and see their absolute best. I treasure my time with patients because, honestly, they are the best part of this business. I have worked in three different types of optical shops in Portland and have finally found a home at Myoptic.
When I’m not working you can find me cooking, reading, listening to people talk, or playing horribly embarrassing video games.

Charissa Young, Optician, Optometry Student
I am enrolled in Pacific University’s College of Optometry, class of 2015. I originally graduated from the University of Kansas with French and Journalism degrees, but I wanted to make a more direct, positive impact on the well being of my community, which led me to optometry. I feel lucky to work at Myoptic Optometry because it reinforces my own intentions to be part of a modern, community-focused practice.
When I’m not helping you pick out the perfect, stylish frames at Myoptic, I’m hiking the Pacific Northwest, doing downdogs, or baking up a storm.
